The purpose of this study was to determine precipitation limits and construct curve for calcium and phosphate in parenteral nutrition solutions compounded with Aminosteril ped^(¢ç). Four neonatal parenteral nutrition solutions were prepared using Aminosteril ped^(¢ç) and various amino acid and dextrose concentration. Calcium gluconate and potassium phosphate were added in concentrations of calcium(10-40mEq/L) and phosphate(5-35mmol/L). After storage at room temperature(25¡É) for 24hours, solutions were inspected for precipition. Precipitations were detected visually and microscopically and pH was measured. Calcium phosphate solubility was greater in the solutions with higher concentration of amino acid and dextrose and no important, different in solution pH observed between 1£¥ and 2£¥ amino acid solutions.
